The Economy

Davis stands for fiscal responsibility which is going to be extremely important during the current economic crisis. We must preserve Riverside's basic services including public libraries, public parks, public safety, public utilities, and public works.

Davis said "We need to better address the foreclosure crisis in our city to keep people in their homes and also create more affordable housing so that people who work in Riverside can afford to live in Riverside. We must preserve our heritage and historic properties and support local music, art and cultural programs."

"We must bring better and more diverse businesses to our city and bring good high paying jobs to get people off the freeways. People who work closer to home will have a better quality of life and be able to spend more time with their families and participating in their community. We must stop pandering to special interest groups and improve our infrastructure and stop eminent domain abuse."

 

Public Safety

As a former sheriff and police officer Davis is a strong proponent of law enforcement and our fire fighters.

Code enforcement needs to focus on protecting public health and safety and not be used as a political tool.

The Riverside Police

Review Commission

Davis supports our Community Police Review Commission and believes that some changes will be necessary to reform the commission and to empower the commission to accomplish their oversight mission.

 

Parks & Environment

Davis believes in taking responsibility for his actions. He will work to protect open space and uphold Proposition R and Measure C. Davis will work for greater improvement of our parks and create more recreation opportunities for our youth.

Davis' support of public safety ties into his desire to provide more recreational
opportunities for our children. Children who are engaged in sports and other positive after school programs will not be joining gangs, they will be going on to college or trade school or into the military or public service and a successful life.

 

 

 

Eminent Domain

Paul Davis does not believe that government should take private property from one owner and make it available to another private owner. Davis will oppose the use of eminent domain for development projects.

DHL at March

Davis fully supports our military at March. He will work to ensure that a fiasco like DHL never happens again. Davis supports the military's good neighbor policy of no flights from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. It is important that our families and children be able to sleep through the night and any future operations at March Global Port need to be held to the same standards.

Paul Davis’ 14 Point Plan for Riverside

1. Open the books at City Hall.

2. Reduce out of control spending and live within our means.

3. No new taxes.

4. Work to reduce our electric and water utility rates.

5. Campaign finance reform to limit amount of special interest money in elections.

6. Sever all ties with March Global Port and keep March for military use only.

7. Facilitate creating more good high paying local jobs to get residents off the freeways.

8. Hold six Town Hall meetings every year throughout Ward 4.

9. Make our neighborhoods safer.

10. Welcome your participation at City Hall.
